Young Learners (Grade 1)

An introductory robotics program for little minds with big ideas!

Through the use of an age appropriate educational curriculum, young learners will cover the building blocks for robotics and programming. Children will build, play and program their robots, organize their ideas with LEGO StoryStarter, and be introduced to coding with Scratch.
 

ROBOTICS & ELECTRONICS | 8 classes | $200 + HST

The Robotics and Electronics program introduces students to the different components of robotics. Students use Ozobots, Circuit Makers, and the Dash and Dot systems as they learn how to program and make a robot function in an fun and engaging curriculum.

Session 1   Oct. 11 to Nov. 29 | Thursdays 4:00 to 5:00 PM
Session 2   Oct. 11 to Nov. 29 | Thursdays 5:30 to 6:30 PM
 

LEGO STORYSTARTER | 5 classes | $125 + HST

In our LEGO StoryStarter program, students learn how to visualize a story by putting ideas in a sequential order, building with LEGO, and documenting their final story.

Session 1   Dec. 6 to Jan. 24 | Thursdays 4:00 to 5:00 PM
Session 2   Dec. 6 to Jan. 24 | Thursdays 5:30 to 6:30 PM

 

SCRATCHJr | 6 classes | $150 + HST

Students are introduced to ScratchJr, a fun, free tool that uses a drag and drop interface, allowing young learners to build simple animations and video games as they learn programming principles and concepts.

Session 2   Jan. 31 to Mar. 7 | Thursdays 5:30 to 6:30 PM

Please note, classes do not run on the following dates:
Monday, October 8 / Thanksgiving
December 17 - January 1 / Winter Holidays
January 2 - January 4 / Winter Camp
Saturday, February 16 / Family Day Weekend

Regular classes resume after the winter holidays on Monday, January 7, 2019.
